Hotel Capriolo is a warm, comfortable, charming 3* chalet hotel run by Athos and Serena. The husband and wife team are friendly and welcoming and really set the tone of the hotel creating a relaxing, informal vibe, soundtracked by the mellow tunes spilling from the outside speakers above the small terrace at the entrance of the hotel.
Their hospitality knows no bounds. From the moment you arrive the handful of staff at the hotel (including Jerry the barman who we were excitedly informed has a dog called Tom!) are nothing but attentive and helpful. There are always plenty of cheery smiles from Athos, Serena or any of the many affable locals and their loyal canine companions that pop by for morning coffees, or afternoon aperitifs.
Aside from the friendly characters that really create a great little hotel, the Capriolo has 11 spotlessly clean, cosy rooms all with showers including a large family room. The Capriolo has a traditional, alpine style where wood prevails throughout. Breakfast, consisting of a buffet of cereals, breads, pastries, preserves, hams and cheeses and eggs is served in the intimate restaurant. For those staying at the hotel, the half board menu offers local, traditional dishes.
Sampled on a recent visit was a very generous primi of a local gnocchi recipe and a secondi of Stinco di Maiale (pork hock). Both supremely tasty and filling!
A perfectly comfortable, well positioned 3* for couples, small groups of friends, and families too. For those that want extra facilities, you’re more than welcome to pay and use the spa at the Hotel Meridiana just nearby, run by Athos’ brother Andrea; you will be greeted by yet another warm and friendly face there too!
